Sage Summit UK 2017 – Our Percipient View

Sage Summit UK 2017 was part of the Sage Global Tour. A conference aimed at Entrepreneurs and Business Builders, from Start-up to Scale-up to Enterprise with plenty of Thought Leadership, Innovation and most of all Inspiration. Percipient’s focus was at the Enterprise level; being one of the industry leaders providing Sage X3 business solutions.

Two separate conversations with key people on the last day of #SageSummit London last week best described our view of the two days.  Someone described it as the best software conference they had ever been to.  Key industry press reported on Sage having got there mojo back http://diginomica.com/2017/04/07/hail-new-sage/ while we have always been aware of how strong the UK’s largest tech company is and its excellent products, the summit was a massive statement of intent to the industry.

High energy, excellent and varied key note speakers, informative sessions, great products and innovative leading edge technology all in two action packed days. A great comment by Sahar Hashemi OBE, Entrepreneur, Founder of Coffee Republic; just one of the fantastic line-up of keynote speakers said, “No matter how large your business becomes always think small….be entrepreneurial”

It was a proud moment for the Percipient team as it was our customer testimonial video that was played for Sage for the Enterprise customer on both days, especially the second day as we had Gavin Marshall, Bristol Sport CFO with us who starred in the video.

What was wonderful to see was the alignment of the Bristol Sport’s values and Sage’s value around community. Bristol Sports being the heartbeat of the Bristol community, and Sage’s creation of the Sage Foundation.

Our summary of the key points from the two days is below

  • Strong product lines, clear road maps – Clear strategy, great products, all pitched side by side with clear roadmaps. The Sage product that we focus on X3 had its latest version release at the summit (Version 11) which is testament to the ongoing investment Sage is ploughing into the product.
  • Accountancy is changing – Alan Laing shared some figures during one of the keynotes from some global research. 96% of those surveyed said that are confident about the future of accountancy and their role in it, this was despite 68% seeing their role changing through automation in the future.  A staggering 86% said they would be happy for technology to make the admin elements of their job invisible.  This echoed our views from our recent Percipient Finance Transformation campaign where we see finance executives using automation to empower their finance departments and allow them to focus on value add tasks.
  • Representing UK Businesses – A great deal has been spoken of the impact Stephen Kelly has had on Sage since he joined as CEO. Sage has taken on the mantra of being a voice to the government for UK small and medium businesses, a reassuring fact for many companies and something close to Stephen’s heart.

Sage Summit created an exciting buzz for the partners, customers and prospects who attended.  Our Percipient Sage team benefited greatly from the sessions they attended and the various conversations held with key sage personnel, other business partners and ISV’s.

The conference emphasised to us why Sage is such a key growth area of our business,  much was made during the event that Sage are the UK largest tech company and with the clear product strategies outlined and the leading edge innovation showcased it promises to be an exciting time for both ourselves and our customers.
